Jiu Jitsu is an art of control
roy
marsh
Roy started his Jiu Jitsu career in 2000 in North Carolina USA and has over 20 years of practical experience. He is the owner and head trainer of Gracie Black Forest and can proudly call himself an official black belt of Royce Gracie.

Roy is considered a student of Greg Thompson, a world-renowned expert in military combat as well as Royce Gracie’s first black belt. Due to his education and training, Roy is accustomed to interpreting Jiu Jitsu as a realistic martial art. Although he has achieved numerous successes as a competitor, he has remained true to the essence of Jiu Jitsu to this day. Thus, his main focus is to practice the art as a holistic self-defense system. It is only because of this focus that Roy received the honor of being invited to take the official black belt exam at Valente Brothers headquarters in Miami in 2013. A test with a high failure rate, requiring extensive knowledge of all aspects of Jiu Jitsu including philosophy. Roy passed this extensive test under the eyes of high ranking masters. This great success was sealed with the official presentation of the black belt by Royce Gracie himself.

Today Roy runs his own school in Villingen-Schwenningen, Gracie Schwarzwald. He teaches and imparts authentic Jiu Jitsu to his students according to his lineage under Royce Gracie. Thanks to his experience and knowledge, he is a sought-after guest trainer at national as well as international seminars, where he shares his valuable know-how.

Liliano
Tenore

Born in Lucerne, Liliano has since his first experience in the martial arts in boxing. The path then led him via a short stopover in Shaolin Kung Fu to Taekwondo. These first stations have given Liliano a valuable, broad foundation and have led him to his true love: Jiu Jitsu. He has now been practicing Jiu Jitsu for over 10 years and has been a Jiu Jitsu blue belt since 2013. In order to constantly improve his technique and gain as much experience as possible, Liliano travels a lot. These trips, in addition to attending international seminars, take him to the Gracie Academy in Torrance California or the Valente Brothers Academy in Miami Florida, among others. His goal early on was to share his passion for Jiu Jitsu with others and to bring the authentic Jiu Jitsu style of the Gracie family to his hometown.

Our History

While Gracie Zug was officially founded in May 2022, the beginnings of the group go back to February 2014. At that time still hosted at Dojo Mahari in Obernau, the Jiu Jitsu learning group trained under the direction of Liliano. The idea and inspiration came about after a training trip to Valente Brothers in Miami. Later, the group has already moved into its first own training premises in a garage. The Tenore Bros. Jiu Jitsu Garage was a significant milestone, which later contributed decisively to the foundation of the own school.

In 2021 Liliano heard about Roy Marsh and Gracie Schwarzwald for the first time. Immediately he made his way to Villigen-Schwenningen, where it sparked from the start. Authentic Gracie Jiu Jitsu under the guidance of an official Royce Gracie Black Belt Instructor. Despite a beautiful journey through the idyllic Black Forest, the road has it in itself. Nice and early both parties agreed on the possibility to participate in the Affiliation Program. That was the birth of Gracie Zug.
