While Gracie Zug was officially founded in May 2022, the beginnings of the group go back to February 2014. At that time still hosted at Dojo Mahari in Obernau, the Jiu Jitsu learning group trained under the direction of Liliano. The idea and inspiration came about after a training trip to Valente Brothers in Miami. Later, the group has already moved into its first own training premises in a garage. The Tenore Bros. Jiu Jitsu Garage was a significant milestone, which later contributed decisively to the foundation of the own school.

Liliano is a student of Roy Marsh. Roy is an official Black Belt Instructor under Royce Gracie and teaches authentic Gracie Jiu Jitsu at his own school, Gracie Schwarzwald, in Villingen-Schwenningen. Due to the distance from his master, Liliano decided in 2021 to establish his own school in Central Switzerland. Given the close student-teacher relationship between Liliano and Roy, it was clear that the school would become an official affiliate of Roy Marsh Jiu Jitsu. Thus, the school became the first Swiss branch of the network, marking the birth of Gracie Zug Jiu Jitsu.

Home of the people. Self Defense for everbody. This is the slogan of Gracie Zug. We are a school of self defense based on the teachings and Jiu Jitsu style of Grandmaster Hélio Gracie and his family. Our goal is to offer self-defense instruction to all people in our community. Gracie Zug is an official member of the Roy Marsh Jiu Jitsu network. According to this, our school proudly represents his lineage under black belt Roy Marsh and UFC legend Royce Gracie. We are also a member of the WU Academy of Martial Arts.
